Saturday

We did some work on Saturday (finished taping and mudding the ceiling, working on the upstairs rooms, a bit of painting, and sanding the antique door). But most of the day was devoted to Thai kids that have a program on Saturday morning. There are normally 30-40 kids that show up, but because of school vacation last week, there were only about  a dozen of this Saturday. On a normal Saturday, they play some games, have a Bible lesson, eat lunch, and then have soccer instruction and play soccer games.

The soccer program has been quite successful. One former player from this program is on the Thailand National Team. Two of them are on the FC Chiang Mai team. And one just got a scholarship to a prestigious Chiang Mai high school. They have 4 teams in the program (under 8, under 10, under 12, and under 14). Aie has his national coaching certificate and has travelled to Korea for training with some of the teams.  They are part of the Emmanuel League.

Today, the staff from Covenant Heights presented the program with the help of a young man who is son of a Wycliffe translator and grew up in Thailand. They played games Simon Says (above) and Duck, Duck, Goose (below), had a craft time (on the right), and enacted a Bible story. Before and after there were spirited Thai versus American soccer games. It was not close since they were all soccer players and only one of the American’s had much soccer experience. Pictures tell the story better than words.
